Lois Smith Fundraising Fun Day
This afternoon I was invited to a fundraising afternoon at the Wisbech Rugby Club on behalf of a local lady, Lois Smith.
They are raising money for cancer treatment which isn’t funded by the NHS.
The turnout was exceptional, with so many local people coming together to support this important cause.
It was a glorious sunny day and everybody was having a ball. I was accompanied by some friends and I think we took part on almost every game stall, as well as enjoying a large jug of Pimms. The DJ was playing some classic tunes and it was impossible not to have a fantastic time.
We spent a fair bit of money, and made a donation, but this is all in a good cause and it was well worth every penny for the fun we had.
Happy Birthday Nora Drew!
It was a great honour to visit Rose Lodge Care Home in North Ward / Waterlees today and wish the delightful Nora Drew happy returns for the day on this, her 100th Birthday.
She didn’t know I was coming, or that I was bringing flowers, so it was nice to be able to surprise her and wish her all the best.
Happy Birthday Nora!
Clarkson School Fete
This morning I popped into the Clarkson School Fete, where parents, staff and kids were busy having a whole bunch of fun and raising money at the same time.
I was keen to help promote the “Walk With Me” Campaign, being championed by parents and local residents.
I joined it with all the games and tried to take part in everything, including getting to pour a bucket of water on the Head Teacher and her Deputy, for which task I enlisted some of the students to help.
Well done everybody, excellent event!
FDC Chairman’s Reception
Friday night I travelled with some friends and colleagues to Whittlesey for the Chairman’s Reception, hosted by the Fenland District Council Chairman, Cllr. Kay Mayor.
It was a well-attended event with lots of familiar faces and friends present. We had a very nice evening and I’d like to thank the FDC Chairman for inviting me to such a pleasant event.
