It’s been an odd sort of week. Monday was my birthday (forty fifth) but I didn’t get to really celebrate it as I had to travel to Hertfordshire on business. I was up at the crack of dawn and home late at night and so my celebrations stemmed mainly from Facebook. This is where social media is at its best for me because a great many people took the time to send me birthday wishes and brightened up an otherwise ordinary sort of day! Thank you all! And don’t worry, full on celebrations shall take place in the proper way this weekend! :)
Tuesday and Wednesday I was working in my shop both on my other business and also getting the shop ready for its opening in a couple of week’s time. It appears that my shop has become a kind of informal “Wisbech Conservatives pop-in” – all sorts of people poke their head in the door and sample my coffee. It’s really quite a pleasant way to work.
On Thursday I was back in Hertfordshire, but in Kings Langley, visiting the other half of my band. Well I say band, but really it’s a duo I guess. Anyway – we put the finishes touches to a new song and have now nearly completed the “album” we said we’d make this year. Though we have no idea whether anybody will like our music, its very therapeutic making some again.
Tomorrow I’m off back down the A1 on business (every week isn’t like this, but this week is proving quite demanding.) Then, on Saturday I hope to pick up a new car and then take my Son to the Peterborough Fair in it!
On Saturday night I’m running a karaoke disco in the King’s Head and on Sunday I’m booked for a Birthday Party disco.
So, very unusually, I have had no politics at all this week! I haven’t even had any case reports from constituents in my Town Council ward! It’s strangely quiet out there. The calm before the storm?
Meanwhile, the Conservative Party Conference has taken place (successfully) and nearer to home Fenland District Council Conservative Group have been involved in all sorts of drama. Being “out of it” these days there was no need for me to get involved or voice an opinion and I’m intensely glad about that. I very much doubt that any of it will end here. These things have a way of dragging on until they reach a resolution one way or another.
